Research Preparation: 5 steps
- Place all weapons and character tokens in the Tudor Manor Arcade. At least six investigators are involved in the investigation. Each detective selects a character from the suspect list and uses the corresponding pawn. Then go to Samuel Blake’s mansion to investigate.
- In the game, players deal black clue cards between three decks: weapons, puzzles, and rooms. Carefully separate each deck from the other and place it face down on the board.
Without looking or showing the other detectives, take the top card from each of the three decks and place it in the yellow crime envelope. This is the actual murder, the weapon that was used, and the room in which the murder took place. Then place the kill envelope in front of the board.
- Turn 3 black cards into 1 deck and flip it over. Dealing all the cards at once to the investigator, always face up. Each spy must keep his card secret.
If the black cards cannot be dealt properly to the detectives participating in the investigation, place the remaining 2 or 3 cards in front of the Tudor Mansion game board.
- Give each investigator a blank piece of paper and a pen from the detective’s notebook (sold separately). Keep the adhesive sheet out of prying eyes. Without other investigators seeing each investigator must note the black cue cards received during the transaction on his cue sheet. Also, check the rest of the cards that are face up in front of the game board.
These cards are not in the yellow envelope of crime. So, these people, things and places have nothing to do with murder. As the investigation progresses, the second detective’s cards will appear in order. In each of these cases the cue sheet can be marked. You can’t be implicated in a murder unless you’re at the scene of the crime.
- Finally, place this deck in front of the board by turning over red reward cards and checking for additional moves and beneficial actions. If you want to see the clues according to your rules, put the red card back in the box.
