For years, Pokémon fans have been waiting for a fantastic Pokémon game that could add something new to the popular series. With Pokémon Go, we experimented with augmented reality technologies for the first time. However, the game is missing something, especially the story. Pokémon: Come on, Pikachu, Eave! however, it offers the opportunity to experience intuitive gameplay and an immersive story based on the legendary Kanto region. The game is now available for Nintendo Switch and select smartphones. Find out more about this fantastic game with our review.
Story:
Combining both old-school Pokémon games and new technologies, Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile is undoubtedly a promising game. You start out as a young teenager with an eternal desire to study Pokémon. Get your first Pokémon from Professor Oak, grab your Pocked, and set out on your journey through the Kanto region. Battle tough gym bosses to earn your badge, catch Pokémon to complete your Pocked, and defeat Team Rocket’s evil organization. Also, you need to befriend your Pokémon to earn their trust and affection. This in turn would strengthen the bond between the trainer and his Pokémon, giving them a powerful boost during battle.
The flow of the game:
The game features traditional RPG gameplay with the same settings as the original Pokémon Yellow. However, players will have the opportunity to discover many new elements that have never been seen before.
Run, swim and even ride with your Pokémon:
In Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile, players can leave their Pokémon with them instead of storing them in Pickleballs. However, this is nothing new from the original Pokémon Yellow either. The thing that makes this feature so much more interesting is that you can keep more than one Pokémon out of their balls. However, you can have all of your Pokémon run with you as you travel across the land of Kanto. Also, if you have large Pokémon like Onyx, Granados, and the like, you can even lead them with other small Pokémon. This makes the trainer feel like he is in the real world of Pokémon.
Catch the same Pokémon for special rewards:
For die-hard trainers who want to get all possible prizes and rewards, you can try making a fascinating series of one Pokémon. This offers a lot of benefits as you increase the chances of encountering Shiny Pokémon and simply earn candy to upgrade your Pokémon. And if you go out in the middle of a session and catch another Pokémon, all recorded stats will be deleted. However, make sure to continue your winning streak to reach your ultimate goals.
Play against legendary champion Red:
Red, the original character from the original Pokémon game, is considered one of the most powerful trainers in the world. This makes him a desired opponent for every trainer who wants to become a champion. Either way, once you complete the Gym Challenges and beat the Elite Four, you’ll have the chance to take on a Legendary Trainer. Fight and defeat him in direct combat. Make sure your Pokémon is powerful enough as most of them have passed level 90. Also, the two of you fight without using any items or anything. So make sure you come up with the right tactics and have a healing Pokémon on your team.
Take the Master Trainer Challenge:
While the main game only lasts until you defeat the Elite Four and Red in your final battle, there are still plenty of challenges and side missions to complete in Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile. As the name suggests, the challenge requires you to pass all the Pokémon trainers in the entire area by beating them in trainer battles. However, there is only one rule in this challenge, you can only bring one Pokémon to fight the same Pokémon as the others. There are said to be 153 different trainers in the Kanto region, which is equivalent to 153 different Pokémon in the Pocked. This would be quite complicated as you would have to train all your Pokémon to have the necessary powers. Not to mention that it wouldn’t be easy to catch all the Pokémon in the first place.
Connect to Pokémon Go:
If you’ve played the old Pokémon games, you know how hard it is to collect all the Pokémon in the Pocked. However, in Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile, they’ve made it a lot easier with the ability to connect to your Pokémon Go app. You can use Pokémon Go to catch all the rare Pokémon that are hard to spot in Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile and trade them between the two platforms. This makes it much easier as you also have access to a large community of Pokémon Go players.
Greater interaction between Pokémon and trainers:
Furthermore, the game also focuses a lot on the relationship between trainers and their Pokémon with some features highlighted. You can use more interaction with the Pokémon in addition to keeping them out of their balls. Talk to them every now and then, pat them, feed them, or even scratch their backs if they are itchy. Everything is possible with the touch screen. And as mentioned, the stronger the bonds between trainers and their Pokémon, the stronger the Pokémon become. Therefore, if you have a strong bond with your Pokémon, it will have a better chance of avoiding attacks, healing poisons, burning, paralyzing and so on. You have a better chance of winning battles.
Play with other coaches:
Although the game is mostly single player focused, you can still play against other managers in friendly battles. You can also trade Pokémon with them so that you can both get the Pokémon you want. And most interestingly, the game allows trainers to join forces to catch tough Pokémon. You can “double” the Poke Balls to increase your chances of catching certain Pokémon.
Picture and sound quality
Graphics:
The game has beautiful 3D graphics with realistic elements that make you feel like you are playing in a real Pokémon world. Also, the gameplay is quite friendly with little violence. Therefore, the game is accessible to people of all ages with minimal disabilities. And best of all, the relatively simple graphics requirements make the game playable on all devices as well. That’s why you can enjoy Pokémon Let’s Go Mobile easily even on older Android models.
Sound / music:
Keep track of your entire journey, you will enjoy calm music and soundtracks that will make you relax. Plus, the sound effects and voice actors make the Pokémon world much more intuitive than ever.
Final thoughts:
With improved graphics and gameplay, the game is definitely a worthy title even for longtime fans who have played the original red, green and blue versions.
